Hampton Cove Golf Course -River, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.
This is one of three 18 hole course at the Hampton Cove Golf Course facility. Hampton Cove is part of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Hamton Cove's three 18-hole courses are The Highlands Course, The River Course, and The Short Course
The River Course, the only Robert Trent Jones layout without a single bunker. The River Course is laid out on former soybean fields in the flood plain of the Flint River. The River is a throwback to the way courses were built long ago - the dirt was merely pushed up to create the greens and tees, leaving all else, including massive oak trees, as is. The enormous black oak behind the 18th green is reputed to be the third oldest in the state at 250 years.

love the absence of sand versus its sister track "The Highlands", not so fond of all that water but it certainly adds to the challenge. Like playing in a park or nature preserve which I guess is what it is.

There are 16 holes that water is in play. NO BUNKERS!! The person that designed the corse said where there would nomally be water lets make it bigger. For every place we would have put sand guess what a small pond. For people like me it was REALLY hard, but at the same time it was the first time on a championship course. If you are not a straight down the middle player EVERYtime then choose the 2nd course it will be a lot more fun. I was honored to play a course like this either way since im just recreational golfer.
